A Place to Bury Stranger Mar 13, 2010

I was going to the Venue to take photos of A Place to Bury Strangers, and The Big Pink. I have seen A Place to Bury Strangers and like them, also I enjoy the challenge to take photos of them, they play on a very dark stage, stark light and then no light. It was an early show, and I was to be there at 7:15 PM. I decided to walk, and took this picture while walking over the Georgia viaduct, the Dunsmuir side. I walked downtown often durning the Olympics but this viaduct was closed. They are taking down the fence below.

Just inside the main hall at the Venue their is a large back lit wall of this red design. I took 2 photos, this was the second one.

Each bar has this lighting where the liquor is displayed.

A Place to Bury Strangers

This is one of the 1st photos as the bass comes out of the fog, well just the head comes out of the fog.

When I pick out photos for the public, I miss some that touch me on a different level, that shapes and space appeal to me and yet they could not be the 'usual' rock photos. I like this photo of Oliver, and yet it does not hold a lot of information.

There are colours.

Now it's time to take a break and listen to some of their music at http://www.aplacetoburystrangers.com/

Well these are not the photos I sent to the Skinny to publish if they do. I have enjoyed looking for other shots, let me know what you think of this off centre publication of photos on my blog.

  1. The shots of the band are intriguing. I am guessing they do not play too many children's birthday parties. Especially like the tip of the bass coming out of the fog and the coy phrase, "just the head."

Like the shots from inside your house too. It is as if you have been given new paints to add to your pallette. That new camera just might be worth the investment you made in it.
